Jean is a marine conservation photographer, working
both to protect our amazing and diverse coastal habitats from destruction
through poaching, pollution and illegal fishing and using stunning and unique
imagery to inspire more people to both visit and conserve these beautiful wild places.
Flying and photographing from his gyrocopter he conducts regular marine survey flights
along the Cape coast, assisting numerous marine scientists with whale counts, shark
surveys, fisheries patrols and of course capturing unusual animal behaviour. He
also dives and photographs underwater in arrange of diverse habitants
from oceans to mountain lakes, rivers to flooded mines and underwater caves.
Jean’s stills work has featured in numerous local and international publications
including Getaway, GO!, Ocean Geographic, High Life, Wild, Sail & Leisure, Africa
Geographic as well as in the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year and the Underwater
Photographer of the Year competitions. He has also shot footage for Homebrew Films,
Earth Touch, WAGT, and Wild Oceans among others.
